There's a lot of this in Portugal: doors, windows still with elements of beautiful design and detail, but part of a building that is falling into disrepair.

Sadly these buildings are rarely restored but just left to rot away into rubble or pulled down to build new (and ugly) apartments.

This particular door has since completely fallen in.

(Maybe my new job will to be to paint the last nice bits of portugal before they're left to rot or demolished.)
